It took over a year and thousands of passes through the press to complete the Mask book. The masks in the book were hand-carved from masonite and then printed using a technique called "suicide printing" because parts of the image are carved away between new coats of color. The images are layered with Paul Laurence Dunbar's poem "We Wear the Mask" (sample pages).
